The Udall Center recently joined the Universities Partnership for Water Cooperation and Diplomacy (UPWCD), a network to strengthen water cooperation and diplomacy. As a partner, the Udall Center will involve its researchers and collaborators across the University of Arizona to contribute to the UPWCD’s mission to harness research, teaching, and engagement in international water policy and governance.
Designed to be a one-stop-shop to share and access information, the newly launched UPWCD website provides information on short courses and other educational opportunities, upcoming conferences and meetings, and water-related publications.
A recent publication by Udall Center researchers, titled “U.S.-Mexico hydrodiplomacy: Foundations, change, and future challenges,” is now featured on the Partnership website. Co-authored by Udall Center faculty members Margaret Wilder (affiliate faculty), Robert Varady, Andrea Gerlak, and Christopher Scott; and longtime associates Stephen Mumme (Colorado State University) and Nicolás Pineda Pablos (El Colegio de Sonora), the publication recently appeared in the American Association for the Advancement of Science journal, Science and Diplomacy.
